Applying for a school place

All applications are coordinated through Nottingham City Council. Please ring the Nottingham City Council admissions team on 0115 8415568 to find out more about the admissions process.

Please ensure that you follow BOTH steps below, this will avoid any delay in your application for a place at our school:

Step 1:

If you are applying for a place and your child is a baptised Catholic, you MUST download and complete this Supplementary form (opens in new tab) (they are also available from the school office). You must also provide a copy of your child’s baptism certificate and return these documents to the school office before the closing date. Without this additional information, we cannot class your child as a Catholic.

Step 2:

Complete the registration and admissions form on the Nottingham City Council website.

First Admissions 2021

Applications are accepted from 8 November 2021 – 15 January 2022 for first admission (Reception) and transfer from infant to junior/primary education.

You will be notified on 16 April 2022 if you have been given a school place.

Waiting lists

Parents whose children have not been offered a place at a school in the normal admissions round will be added to the school’s waiting list unless they have been offered a place at a higher preference school. The list will remain open until the end of the academic application year.  If a parent wishes their child to remain on the waiting list, they must re-apply each academic year.  The local authority manages the waiting list for St Augustine’s Catholic Voluntary Academy.

In-year applications

An application can be made for a place for a child at any time outside the admission round and the child will be admitted where there are available places.  An application should be made to Nottingham City Council by completing the LA Common Application Form and following the instructions on the LA website.

If you are applying for a place on faith grounds, you will also need to complete a supplementary form:

Supplementary form

and return this to:

St Augustine’s Catholic Voluntary Academy,
Park Avenue, Mapperley Road,Nottingham. NG3 4JS

Where there are places available but more applications than places, the published oversubscription criteria, as set out in the admission arrangements for 2022/23 will be applied. Parents are advised to read the admission arrangements carefully before making their application.

If there are no places available, the child will be added to the waiting list.  Please see the admission arrangements for more details.

You will be advised of the outcome of your application in writing as soon as possible.  Applicants must be informed of the outcome of their application within 15 school days of receipt, but the aim is to notify applicants of the outcome of their application within 10 school days of receipt.

You have the right to appeal to an independent appeal panel if your application is unsuccessful.

If you have any questions in relation to in-year admissions please contact Mrs Moore at the school on 0115 9156995. You may also wish to discuss in-year applications with Nottingham City Council on 0115 9150763 or www.nottinghamcity.gov.uk

St Augustine’s normal intake into Reception each year is currently 45 children. Current Legislation limits the size of Early Years/Key Stage1 Classes to 30 and as a result, we operate with mixed classes throughout all stages of the school apart from Reception where we have 2 classes with 23 and 22 children.

We also have a 39 place nursery. Find out more about our nursery below:
